La Rochelle - France

If you love city breaks like we do, then La Rochelle may not be on your radar. It’s a place we visited a few years ago, loved and try to get back each year. We stay at the Mercure Hotel Vieux Port which is a very comfortable and smart hotel. It is perfectly located. It has a roof top swimming pool. Such a treat!

La Rochelle is a city that is pretty but cosmopolitan too. There are so many things to do and see, you don’t really need to go outside of this city while you’re on this a mini break.

You can hire bikes to get around or simply wander, soak up the atmosphere and stop off at the many pavement cafes. We go in September mostly, so later in the year may be quieter or places may close up for the winter. It is very much a summer spot in my opinion, to get the best from it!
