Rowhedge - Colchester.

Rowhedge is a hidden gem. A bit rough round the edges but we love it. Real people with real lives live here! A very charming place to visit.

The opposite side of the river to Wivenhoe, which is more expensive and refined, Rowhedge is just as lovely, and has it’s own charm. A new developing town with waterfront houses and victorian houses. An eclectic mix is why I personally like it. There are a couple of pubs, and a little hidden away tearoom.

It’s brilliant to sit and watch the local rowing team doing their practice, rowing down the river. In the summer paddle boarders and boats too.

There is a small little ferry (a single manned rowing boat operated ferry) to get across to Wivenhoe and back but sadly no bridge across the river or way of walking between the two!

If you’ve never been before and find yourself in the area of Colchster, check it out, you won’t be disappointed.
