Apple Day (Cressing Temple Barns

What a brilliant event. Some of it was like walking back in time. The costumes were great and the craft stalls interesting and most were focused on apples. This Apple Day event was definitely worth the visit and time spent. I love the Steam Punk costumes and seeing these dancers here dressed like this, was the highlight for me!

The weather was great for mid-October which helped make a great day out. There were fascinating talks from a Bee-Keeper and a Tudor Baker plus an opportunity to have a go at archery too. Very varied, a great day out for families.

So many local varieties of apples. All grown locally in Essex.

A great cider selection.

Great costumes and real life baking apple biscuits in the old kiln oven. The oven was lit, prepped, and nurtured for 24 hours before use. Using all the old skills was great to see.

Time for a cuppa or was it a sneaky cup of mead!

Loved the ‘alternative’ Morris Dancers dressed in Steam Punk costumes.

I couldn’t get over how this man looked like he stepped out of a portrait painting from the 1500’s. Uncanny and fully immersed in the era.
