Cressing Temple Barns

Cressing Temple Barns was a great discovery for us. All the time it was on our doorstep and we've only just visited.

I can't believe we’ve never been before! It’s a collection of historic barns, gifted to the Knights Templar in 1137. It is run by volunteers and the local authority. It has an amazing Tudor walled garden which blew me away! It was so well manicured and preserved. There is a big tearoom run by Tiptree, the scones were delicious and excellent value for money (you get 2 per person).

It was a cold day when we went there, but if you visited in the warmer months, you can walk around the grounds too (a great place to take your dog for a walk).

The collection of Barns were fascinating to see, so old with detailed descriptions of their use. The whole thing is FREE. Just wander around and explore.

It is located between Braintree and Witham.

Definitely worth a half day visit and a cuppa at the tearooms.
